Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis referred to the package of six measures to support the farming sector presented the previous day, stressing that there was no scope for additional measures, during the daily press conference on Thursday.

" We continue to want dialogue with the representatives of the farmers, as we do with every professional group, but there is no swcope for additional measures. Dialogue is necessary on all the major challenges facing the primary sector so that all farmers and livestock breeders can benefit,” he said. A necessary prerequisite for such dialogue to take place, however, were "open roads and the protection of critical state infrastructure and functions such as ports, airports, etc,” he added.

" We are not the government of only the farmers who are at the roadblocks. We are the government of all farmers and, above all, of all citizens. Anyone from the opposition who proposes additional measures is indirectly calling for countermeasures - that is, additional taxation of the rest of society. On the contrary, this government is trying to increase citizens’ incomes - citizens who in the previous years of the crisis saw their incomes decline - by reducing taxes and, above all, without dividing society into two classes of citizens.”
