Androulakis: The government has failed to instill a sense of security
Lawless zones exist in other parts of Greece that must be addressed comprehensively and not "on reality show terms", main opposition PASOK leader Nikos Androulakis said on Monday, during a meeting in the presence of local bodies on the island of Crete.
Citing specific data, he clarified that other parts of the country show increased rates of homicides, while Crete does not present such an increase.
"They have been governing the country since 2019 and have not managed to build a modern and effective state, capable of ensuring public order and guaranteeing social cohesion. They have failed to instill a sense of security," he stressed and added: "For us, in a normal European state, there are no lawless zones. The law applies to everyone without exception. Policing and justice must be everywhere, without exceptions that create a feeling of insecurity and raise big questions in every ordinary everyday person about the functioning of the rule of law."
