"As of today, 80 years ago, on 24 October 1945, the United Nations organisation was established with the mission to preserve international peace and security and to promote cooperation between nations," the Greek foreign ministry said in an announcement on Friday.
"In the contemporary unstable and unpredictable international environment, with dozens of conflicts raging worldwide, full and consistent application of the principles of the found Charter of the United Nations is made more imperative than ever," it added, concluding:
"Greece, as a founding member state of the UN and an elected member of the UN Security Council for the 2025-2026 term, consistently supports the goals and principles of the Organisation, remaining firmly committed to the unwavering respect for International Law and the protection of human rights.”
