Androulakis submits question to the Prime Minister on policy for the agricultural sector

Main opposition PASOK-Movement for Change leader Nikos Androulakis on Tuesday tabled a question for the Prime Minister, which asserts that "the government's policies for the primary sector are leading producers to a complete impasse, intensifying the desertion of the countryside".
As Androulakis stated in his question, "the value of the primary sector is indisputable, as it is one of the most important pillars of the Greek economy, which also plays a key role in the balanced development of the countryside and the social cohesion of the country. However, throughout your six years of governance, the primary sector has been continuously dismissed, with its serious problems remaining unresolved, undermining the productive capacity and resilience of the agri-food sector in our country."
The underutilisation and inefficient distribution of important community resources, the increased cost of production, especially that of energy, the lack of accountability in the market, the fraudulent classification of products as Greek, the lack of strategic planning to deal with the climate crisis and the lack of water for irrigation, the lack of training and education of farmers and the problems of cooperatives create a negative framework that prevents young people from being active in the primary sector, Androulakis said.
