The very high temperatures will continue in Greece at least until next Sunday (21/7), as the warm air masses covering a large part of Eastern Europe and the Balkans will continue to affect the country. The highest temperature values are expected on Wednesday and Thursday in the interior of mainland Greece, mainly in the west, central and north of the country.
Specifically, on Wednesday and Thursday, maximum temperatures will reach:
a. in the mainland 41-42C, and locally in the west, central and north 43C.
b. in the Ionian, Eastern Aegean and Dodecanese islands and in southern Crete, 38-40C.
c. in the rest of the islands, 35-37C.
d. in Attica and the prefecture of Thessaloniki, 39-40C.
On Friday, the highest temperatures are expected to reach:
a. in the northern mainland areas, 38-39C, and in the rest of the mainland, 40-41C.
b. in the Ionian, Eastern Aegean and Dodecanese islands and in southern Crete, 37-40C.
c. in the rest of the islands, 35-37C.
d. in Attica and the prefecture of Thessaloniki, 38-39C.
On Saturday (20/7) from noon, sporadic storms are forecast in the north of the country and the temperature is expected to reach:
a. in the northern mainland, 37-39C, in the rest of the mainland, 40C and locally in the west 41C.
b. in the Ionian, Eastern Aegean and Dodecanese islands and in southern Crete, 38-40C.
c. in the rest of the islands, 34-36C.
d. in Attica, 39-40C, and in the prefecture of Thessaloniki, 38-39C.
And finally on Sunday (21/7), the maximum temperature is forecast to be 37-39C on the mainland, and locally up to 40C.
