A good development, which, however, is not enough to alleviate the concerns of farmers, Rural Development and Food Minister Lefteris Avgenakis said on Tuesday referring to the decisions of the EU Council of Ministers, in an interview with public broadcaster ERT.

He added that Greece's coordinated work, which has developed alliances at the level of EUMED-9 and EPP, is bringing results, since 19 proposals submitted by the Greek side have been adopted.

"We had a first good development, but it is not enough. The pressure and the coordinated work done by Greece and other European states have succeeded. But this is not enough. We insist that, until before the European elections, the European Commission must consider more than the 19 requests that we have submitted in total. The 2% of CAP funds - which ends up in each country - can be used by each member for emergency cases such as storm Daniel in Greece, without intermediate procedures and bureaucratic problems," the minister noted.

The Greek minister emphasized that the following proposals should also be considered immediately:

    - to allocate 2% of the CAP's annual budget for dealing with climate crises for special aid, following climate disasters,
    - to give flexibility to member states to be able to modify the CAP Strategic Plan and transfer resources between the two pillars or from year to year, and
    - to have flexibility in the application of the so-called ecological schemes and flexibility of deviations in their application in cases where it is required.
