Kefalogianni stresses importance of actions in favour of equal political representation

The problems faced by women who hold a political position and women who want to be involved in politics were discussed during the WPL summit held in Athens, Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni said.
The minister spoke about the reduced representation of women in politics, stressing that this is related to the imbalance that prevails even in simple human rights.
Kefalogianni underlined that priorities for the Democracies of the 21st century are the financing of actions in favour of equal political representation, the education of women and men so that equality in politics is the new normality and zero tolerance for any form of gender-based violence.
She also spoke about the major issue of artificial intelligence and its impact on parliamentary and electoral processes. As the minister said, "we must be proactive and push for artificial intelligence to include and not exclude female politicians."
Finally, the Minister of Tourism emphasized that it is necessary for the women of the future not to face the obstacles, stereotypes and prejudices of previous generations and that it is time to pave the way for the effective implementation of women's democratic rights in more and more countries.
