Greece plans 10-year bond issue
Greece plans to issue a 10-year bond, probably tomorrow, after Moody’s raised its rating last Friday by two notches.
In a regulatory filing, Greece said it has mandated six international banks as joint lead managers for the issue of a benchmark 10-year bond "in the near future”, subject to market conditions.
The banks are BNP Paribas, Citi, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, HSBC and JP Morgan.
This is the second debt sale, this year (the first one was the issue of the 5year bond in January) and the first 10-year bond since March 11th, 2010.
According to analysts, the demand for the new Greek bond is expected to be strong, taking into account the new 10-year Italian bond that was issued last week as well as the strong demand for the 15-year bond issued by Spain.
The amount that Greece is expected to raise through the 10year bond will be around or slightly higher than the 5-year issue, 2 billion - 3 billion euro.
Greece’s 10-year bond yield dropped to 3.622 percent in early trade on Monday, the lowest since January 2006.
