The national defence ministry's bill for the " Approval of the draft contracts in the field of defence for the amendment of contracts 016B/21 and 017B/21 concerning the procurement of FDI HN-type frigates” was passed with support from several parties and a comfortable majority on Friday. 

In addition to ruling New Democracy, main opposition PASOK-KINAL and the opposition parties SYRIZA, Elliniki Lysi and Niki voted in favour of the contracts concerning the purchase of a fourth Belharra frigate of Standard 2++ and the upgrades of the three existing frigates from Standard 2 to Standard 2++. The Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Nea Aristera and Plefsi Eleftherias voted against.

Article 1 of the draft bill, which includes the draft of the main Agreement, was passed with 243 votes in favour, out of 292 participating MPs, during a roll-call vote demanded by Nea Aristera and Plefsi Eleftherias, while 45 MPs voted against and four abstained.
