The trial for the assassination of investigative journalist Giorgos Karaivaz before a Mixed Jury Court has been postponed until July 5 at the request of a lawyer representing Karaivaz's family. After selection of the jurors, the court accepted a request to postpone by the lawyer representing Karaivaz's widow and son, who said he needed additional time to study the brief and also intended to present crucial additional evidence.

The family had previously been represented by the lawyer Apostolos Lytras, who was recently arrested and jailed on a domestic violence charge.

The request to postpone was opposed by the public prosecutor, who proposed a recess of a few days and and the lawyers of the two defendants.
