The effects of climate change that disrupt traditional business models, affect travelers' preferences and behaviours, complicate investment decisions and make the management of tourism destinations difficult will dominate the forum "EUTourism: Resilience in the Era of the Climate Crisis" taking place in Rhodes on Monday and Tuesday, April 8-9.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will speak at the Forum on Monday at 20:00.
During the work of the forum, the Rhodes joint declaration on climate change and European tourism will be finalised and signed.
According to a relevant announcement, this is the first European-wide meeting of this level, which is being held at the initiative of HOTREC and with the co-organisation of the South Aegean Region.
It is pointed out that the choice of Rhodes is of particular importance as the island was tested last year by the repercussions of the climate crisis and is now becoming a point of reference and a starting point for European solutions for the sustainability and resilience of tourist destinations.
