Main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance spokesperson Dora Avgheri, in a interview with OPEN TV on Thursday, underlined the "imperative need to put an end to any ideas of party elites and 'priesthoods' and to focus on SYRIZA's grass roots, on the progressive citizens who want a new way of doing politics and participation".

Avgheri said that Wednesday's meeting of the party's Political Secreteriat had "reaffirmed the leadership of Stefanos Kasselakis".

Asked whether she fears that the 'hardliners' who expressed opposing views at Wednesday's meeting might splinter off from SYRIZA, she answered that "the new SYRIZA has nothing to be afraid of".
