"Our goal is to put video conferencing in our lives for the citizens' interactions with the state," Minister of Digital Governance Kyriakos Pierrakakis said on Wednesday, at the conference of the Panhellenic Association of Exporters.

Pierrakakis stated that "we believe in the openness of Greek companies," and underlined the cooperation with other ministries "so that we can change the way [things are done], so there is convenience, flexibility and speed in terms of contact between citizens, entrepreneurs and the state."

The minister spoke about drastic steps taken in this direction, such as the state's unified digital portal, gov.gr, offering more than 720 state services with which citizens can interact and do not require physical presence.

"The goal is to digitise even more services and reach 1,000 in a few months. More than 2.0 million new documents have been issued by the new services of gov.gr established over the last eight months," Pierrakakis said, adding: "We aim to improve the digital skills of all citizens but there must always be a channel that will allow those who do not have digital skills to be able to be served by the state."
